Having found the perfect site for the monastery, the Foundation has hired the talented team at GDA Engineers in Cody to survey the property boundaries.

GDA is busy surveying, so that the monks will know the property better and be able to build an enclosure wall in the future. Meanwhile another part of the GDA team is working to engineer the access road, consider adequate sources of water, and ultimately prepare to apply for the required Special Use Permits with Park County.

Needless to say, both the Foundation and the monastery are making great progress towards closing with the help of GDA Engineers. Please keep all of us in your prayers, especially these dedicated surveyors and engineers! May the Lord reward the entire GDA staff for using their God-given talents to help us found a New Mount Carmel in Wyoming's Rockies.

James McCrery and his talented team have been busy working on the schematic design for the monastery.   We were pleased to spend June 1st reviewing the progress made.   It never ceases to amaze us to see how Mr McCrery has such profound insight into the life of the Carmelite monks and their needs!  Truly this man has been chosen for this noble work by God Himself!

As you can see from these interim floor plans and elevations, the monastery is well on its way for the glory of God and to house the Carmelite Monks.  While there are a handful of changes to be made, we are hoping to have the Schematic Design Phase completed by the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on July 16th.

This first stage of architectural drawings includes defining the scope of the project and developing a site plan, initial floor plans and elevations, all of which will allow the Foundation to receive a cost estimate and begin to receive bids from possible contractors.  The next stage will be Design/Development to determine the more particular details.

If all goes as planned, the Foundation hopes to be able to break ground on Holy Thursday, 2011.  Needless to say, there is a tremendous amount of work to be done; your generosity is of the greatest importance lest Fr Prior be forced to turn vocations away due to a lack fo space.

We have now selected the spot that we wish to build on. James McCrery, Mike Schumacher and the monks discovered the perfect spot with a breathtaking view of Carter Mountain that lies directly behind the property that the foundation has under contract.

We measured the lay out of the monastery and it fits perfect.

James acquired all the points of longitude and latitude so that his firm can lay out the monastery perfectly on the right terrain.

We measured everything exactly to scale. The monastery is going to sit right beside Meeteetse Creek so that the sound of water can echo through the monastery.
